Roasting
All our coffee is roasted fresh to order. It is then heat sealed in foil coated, one way valved bags to lock in the freshness. The delivery time has been selected to allow the coffee sufficient time to de-gas after roasting, allowing the flavours to settle. This is essential to ensuring your coffee is ready for consumption upon arrival.
Like a good wine, if stored correctly, roasted coffee flavours will further mature over time allowing some of the oils from within to appear as they are released from inside the bean. This process allows the flavours to become more pronounced in the cup. The result is a coffee blend that you will never grow bored of over the duration of consumption.
As a general guide to ensure optimum flavour, coffee should be consumed within four (4) weeks of opening.
Grinding Your Coffee
With proper selection of the grind, our coffee can be specifically matched to get the best out of your own coffee making utensils. Grinding the coffee beans to suit your specific use will ensure the full flavour experience, provide you the opportunity to fine tune your barista coffee making skills and impress your family and friends.
If required, we will gladly grind your coffee to suit your desired use, however we strongly recommend you purchase in whole bean form and then freshly grind it on demand as required (just like in the good cafés). After all, the distinct aroma of freshly ground coffee is half the coffee experience!
Keeping your coffee in whole bean form will also prolong the freshness!
Coffee Storage Hints
To ensure that optimal freshness is maintained, we recommend you place your bag of coffee in a clip lock cereal container and store in a cool, dark, dry place. The back, bottom shelf of a food pantry usually works well.
